Little Free Diverse Libraries

Proceeds from our sales support Little Free Libraries throughout Medford and neighboring cities. We focus on keeping school little libraries stocked with a fresh selection of new representative books for school-aged children.

We are modeled after Read In Color and inspired by the work of Sarah Kamya of Diverstories, who helped us get started with our social mission in 2019.

Stop by, take or leave a book, and share the love of reading!

Our main Little Free Diverse Library (LFDL) is outside our shop at 4Good Vibes in South Medford.

Featuring embroidered artwork by Debbie Liehe Sheehan of Lagniappe Arts & Crafts, our LFDL was gifted through the Impact Library Program. We keep it regularly stocked with graphic novels and books featuring diverse heroes.

As of Summer/Fall 2023, we are working to install a second Little Free Diverse Library at the Medford High School. This big and bright box will be located in front of the purple door of Medford Family Network - an amazing organization providing free family programming for children ages 0-8 in our community.

Little Free Libraries

Book Wonder worked during the COVID years to install, update and replace Little Free Libraries at the Roberts Elementary School and McGlynn Elementary & Middle School in Medford. Thank you to builder and Haines Square resident Henry Choi; Deb Perry, Luke Tilley and Chris Hogan for maintenance; and school PTOs who together made this a reality.

The Missituk School Little Free Library was recently renovated thanks to South Medford resident and contractor David Parks. With the help of Tufts Community Volunteers and the Missituk PTO, it will get a fresh coat of paint and landscaping for improved access.

Book Wonder regularly checks on, cleans up and fills all Little Free Libraries located at Medford Schools, as well as those at local community centers.
